The board has asked Linda Sanders, Phil Krape and Deb Griffin to serve on our Minister Transition Search Committee. On April 30, the committee will submit our application for a contract minister. Beginning next week, the UUA’s Transitions Office begins the process of matching congregations with ministers. Interviews and negotiations will follow.
We are asking to hire a contract minister, rather than an interim or developmental minister. Contract ministry allows greater flexibility for both the minister and the congregation. For example, an interim minister is hired for a set time frame with a pre-determined set of goals for their ministry. A contract ministry allows for evolution of the goals of the ministry as well as the ability to extend the contract or, if all agree, switch from contract to settled ministry. However, at this time, we expect the congregation will form a search committee for our next settled minister in the future.
