New ILYA Mission and Vision Statements!

We are excited to share that the ILYA program has new Mission and Vision statements!
A small working group was busy over the summer tweaking and refining the words that best capture ILYA’s purpose and goals. The focus of our work remains the same, but now we have official statements for the program for marketing and education purposes.
After several reiterations, the Leadership Team has approved the following statements:

ILYA MISSION
First Unitarian’s Independent Living for Young Adults social justice program (ILYA) supports young adults aging out of Delaware’s foster care system so they feel part of a caring, connected community. ILYA’s volunteers work in partnership with Delaware’s Division
of Family Services to provide projects designed to increase the opportunities for youth to achieve a fulfilling future.

ILYA VISION
Every youth in Delaware aging out of the foster care system has the resources and services to achieve a fulfilling, successful adulthood and to feel connected to a caring community.

A very special thanks to Helen Foss who volunteered to facilitate the group and kept us on track!
