In the Giving Spirit this Holiday? Two ILYA Projects Are Waiting for You!
THANK YOU to those members who have already volunteered to support ILYA’s Holiday Giving Project. With an unexpected increase in the number of young adults and children we are supporting in New Castle County plus the expansion to Kent County through church partnerships (112 adults and 16 children total), your participation really makes a difference this year!
As a reminder, there are some easy ways you can get involved in the next few weeks:
Make a donation by check to First U with “ILYA Holiday Giving” in the memo line. ILYA team members will do the shopping.
Bring a personalized holiday card with an unsealed envelope to the church office. Sign your first name(s) and add a general note at the bottom. Some youth have diverse faith and ethnic backgrounds so cards should have a “generic” message/image.
Have extra calendars at home? We hope to provide each young adult with a 2022 calendar. A box for both cards and calendars is in the church office.
Give the gift of reading! New, culturally-sensitive children’s books for young children (newborns to age 7) of ILYA-supported youth are needed.
Help prepare gift boxes for distribution. Volunteers will be assembling boxes on Friday, December 3.
Contact the ILYA Holiday Giving Project Coordinators if you are able to help:
Carolyn Gibson (cgibson@upenn.edu or 610-388-0405)
Martha Gessler (marthagessler@gmail.com or 302-427-9037).
A few more Student Care Package volunteers are also still needed. Many ILYA college students have been paired with volunteers, but there are still 10 students who could benefit from your generosity. Just a few gift boxes during the school year, on holidays and birthday time is all it takes to let them know you’re in their corner. Ask a friend to join you!
