SECOND SUNDAY IS FEBRUARY 13th!

As we look ahead to February, we are reminded that Second Sunday is right around the corner on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 13th. It’s the perfect time to celebrate ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) at First U!

Did you know that the ILYA Program has assisted young adults as they make the difficult transition out of foster care and into independent living for the past 17 years? Year-round projects such as New Apartment Kits, Student Care Packages, Student Loan/Grant Programs, Graduation Gifts and the Baby Supplies Project help these young people feel cared for and valued.

In preparation for this special day on February 13th, we are excited to highlight ILYA in the coming weeks and on Second Sunday through interviews captured on video with Rev. Larry and some of our youth. You will hear first-hand the challenges these young adults faced as they aged out of foster care and how ILYA has been a dependable source of support for them. It’s our hope that after hearing directly from some of the youth, that you will feel more connected to this wonderful social justice program at First U.

Get ready to be inspired and learn how ILYA is “Widening the Circle” in Delaware. Check out e-news articles in the coming weeks and be sure to tune in on February 13th.

“ILYA remains a backbone of support that youth can continue to rely on for help, advocacy and support. What ILYA provides helps our youth achieve goals that are so crucial to their success – housing, education and employment.”
