Winter & the First U Emmanuel Dining Room Team

It may be cold and covid-y (is that a word yet? :-), but the First U EDR team continues to provide monthly meals to Emmanuel Dining Room on the 19th.

During the kitchen renovations and because of covid we have been preparing our meals in homes rather than at church, and have streamlined our Chicken Shepherd’s Pie process to use pre-cooked chicken so fewer hands are needed. We appreciate everyone who has offered to help – some months we have more helpers than spots available! Such a wonderful problem to have.

Many thanks to Mimi and James Moser, who have offered up their home for casserole prep for many months now. In December, they were joined in casserole prep by Maggie Duffy, cookies were supplied by Cindy Cohen, and delivery of everything to EDR was provided by Christy Mullins & Polly Purgason. Welcome! We are so pleased they have joined the the EDR team!

The January casserole prep team was Mimi & James Moser with Sue Fuhrmann, cookies were supplied by Barbara Crowell & Henrietta McKelvey, and delivery was provided by Ed Scott. Henrietta even made homemade chocolate chip cookies!

If you wish to be put on the helper list (you’ll get a monthly email asking who is available that month – no pressure), send an email to Cindy Cohen at CindyC@firstuuwilm.org.

We are always looking for folks who can help with casserole prep, who can provide cookies (store bought are fine – Oreos are favorites), or who can deliver the meal to EDR. It is not time consuming (longest job is 2 hours max) and is so rewarding, as we provide a hot meal to those in need in our community. We’d love to see you!
