Thanks to all who tuned in to the February 13th service that reflected on the ways that serving occurs in the Independent Living for Young Adults (ILYA) program at First U. We hope that you feel more connected to and proud of the important work of this wonderful social justice program that supports youth as they transition out of foster care and into adulthood.
It truly took a team to make the service possible. We are so appreciative of Rev. Larry for his enthusiasm, support and time dedicated to interviewing the ILYA youth. He made them feel very comfortable in sharing their personal stories about their foster care journey.
Thank you to the dynamic duo of Lois Morris and Kathie Stamm for coordinating the logistics for the youth interviews and for presenting the wonderful Stewardship moment. Lois also served as Worship Associate for the service. A big thanks to Jon Claney and Valerie Noel for editing and compiling the interview clips and to Kathy Harris for working with ILYA alumni Rashawn who played a beautiful piano solo.
And of course, special thanks to the three young adults, Rasheed, Tilijah, and Mylinah, for their willingness and bravery to be interviewed and their Independent Living Coordinators for their support.
