“Answering the Call of Love” is a hymn featured in the choir recording for an upcoming service, as First UU church members continue to answer the call to sing together in person for the first time since early 2020. Choir member Bob Foss urges all who love to sing to join the merry group. “I have been a member of the choir for many years. My wife Helen has probably been singing for more than 50 years and her enthusiasm is contagious,” he says. “Why do I come each week? Actually, it is simple: I have a lot of fun!”

Music Director Kathy Harris opens each rehearsal with a tutorial on good singing technique during a robust warmup. It takes several vocal exercises to make the transition from the speaking voices the choir arrives with to a singing “placement” of the sound. Then, the fun of making music together can begin once again.
