We are nearing the end of our stewardship campaign. In April, the Board of Trustees will review the ET’s budget for the next church year, based on what we have pledged. Will we reach our goals and be able to live our mission to the fullest? What is your intention for our beloved church? Perhaps it is best to hear from others and then see below that we still need to hear from many of you.
Here’s what some of your fellow members and friends have said:
“At the start of the pandemic, we were between churches and were searching for a new faith community. Once we discovered First UU’s on-line services, we quickly realized that we had found a new spiritual home. Eventually, we plan to learn more about the church’s programs and will be considering membership. In the meantime, we are committed to supporting the church financially because we benefit so much from attending Sunday services.” – A Hays Butler and Judith Butler
“This church is my spiritual home and the people there are like my extended family. I treasure being involved in worship, small group ministry and other activities at the church. I find my center here and my “true north.” Having my church community really helped me navigate through the pandemic. You all provided a continuing connection to what I value in life and helped me to keep learning and growing even during such social isolation.” – Linda Sanders
We give “to support the mission of our Church.” – Steve and Cindy Cohen
“First U is a spiritually rich community for me that lives its values. I have been privileged to participate in a number of committees, the Executive Team, and the Board of Trustees and consistently saw these values in action. The members of First U have a deep sense of caring for their church community as well as the wider community through support and social action. It is a blessing to be here.” – Donna Gonzalez
“We give to First Unitarian Church to promote Unitarian Universalist values and principles in our community and the world; to sustain a congregation that is welcoming to all souls; to provide a loving, compassionate and multicultural religious education to our children and youth; and to build a blessed community among our members and friends.” – Janet Tillman and Richard Speck
YOUR GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Pledged with intention, given with intention, it carries with it energy and possibility, now and in the future. Please pledge and give as generously as you can to this year’s stewardship campaign. If you receive a call from a church member in these final weeks to ask you about your intentions, please answer the call.
WE STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO! So far, we have raised $381,412 – 78% toward our goal of $490,000 to support our church next church year, 2022-2023. We have heard from 136 families so far, including several new pledges, but with 78 still outstanding from last year. This is a significant gap, and we are late in the process.
If you have not yet pledged, please visit our web page, First UU Wilmington – “Giving with Intention” – Annual Campaign for Stewardship. There you will find information on how to pledge, along with more information about pledging, including the UUA’s Giving Guide and automated giving.
