Plans to vote on changes to Church bylaws at our annual meeting on May 15 have changed.
At the informational meeting held last week, some members expressed concern that the proposed language would allow the Board to bypass the Congregation’s ability to call a minister. While that wasn’t the Board’s intent, it wanted to make sure there was no confusion about the procedure being developed to hire a short term, non-called minister, such as what was required last year. In light of the concerns raised and given the limited amount of time to work out a solution before the meeting, the Board decided to delay the vote, work toward resolution, and hold a special meeting to make necessary revisions. A congregational vote on bylaws changes will be scheduled in the future.
