Coming of Age – A Rite of Passage

On May 22, 2022 we celebrated the Coming of Age rite of passage during our worship service. 7th, 8th, and 9th graders shared their credos with the congregation. A credo is a statement of the beliefs or aims which guide someone’s actions. For most of our Coming of Agers this was the second credo they shared with the congregation, having shared their first credo as part of their Age of Reason rite of passage in 2nd or 3rd grade.

After the worship service we held a reception and many of the Coming of Agers chose to sign the membership book. Congratulations to Campbell Ebling, Matt Marek, Mason Pust, Simona Sargent Santiago, Colin Shahan, and Hayden Weiss.

Wondering what it means to come of age in a Unitarian Universalist congregation? Check out the words Catherine Williamson, our DRE, shared during the service: Celebrating Transition.
