House Bill 271 Expands Independent Living Services for Young Adults to Age 23

ILYA is excited to share that State legislation to expand transitional and independent living services to young adults aging out of the foster care system up to the age of 23 has passed! House Bill 271 was signed by Governor Carney on May 2nd and expands services beyond the age of 21. This means that our young adults will now be supported by Division of Family Services providers and by the programs that ILYA offers for two additional years to increase their chances of success. This is particularly important as the effects of the pandemic continue to linger for many of our students. To read details of the legislation, click here.
