ITEMS STILL NEEDED FOR ILYA’S NEW APARTMENT KITS “DRIVE UP & DROP OFF” EVENT SATURDAY, JUNE 25

Young adults in Delaware who age out of the foster care system and choose to enter the State’s Independent Living Program can receive assistance in the form of rent vouchers, now until the age of 23. They must find housing and either attend school or be employed in order to stay in the program. While they navigate these challenges, First U’s ILYA Program (Independent Living for Young Adults) supports young adults by providing basic housekeeping items and supplies once they secure housing.

Through ILYA’s New Apartment Kits Project, we fill laundry baskets with essential items to help meet basic cooking, cleaning, organizational, and laundry needs. Many times, these are supplies that first-time renters might not even realize they will need.

Several specific items are still needed and we hope we can count on our First U members and community friends to fill our baskets! Come out to the church parking lot (730 Halstead Road)  on Saturday, June 25th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our annual DRIVE UP & DROP OFF EVENT. It’s an easy way to get involved and make a difference!

Click this Sign Up Genius link to view the list of supplies still needed and register to purchase an item or two.

Can’t make it to the church on Saturday? Contact Project Coordinator Stephanie Cloud at stepcloud@verizon.net to arrange another way to deliver your items. As always, the ILYA team is grateful for your support of this important program.
