Many hands make it fun!
Many thanks to all who donated items at ILYA’s Drive Up and Drop Off Event at the church on June 25th!
We hope that you feel more connected to the New Apartments Kit project and to the young adults who will benefit from your generosity and kindness. The annual event was once again a great success thanks to you!
For those who are just learning about ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults), the New Apartments Kit Project fills laundry baskets with essential items to help meet basic cooking, cleaning, organizational, and laundry needs for young adults in Delaware who have aged out of the foster care system and choose to enter the State’s Independent Living Program. They receive assistance in the form of rent vouchers for housing until age 23 and must either attend school or be employed in order to stay in the program. While they navigate these challenges, First U’s ILYA Program supports young adults by providing basic housekeeping items and supplies once they secure their housing.
We are still in need of eight sets of flatware (forks, spoons and knives) in order to completely fill our 10 baskets. If you missed the event in June, it’s not too late to help! Contact Project Coordinator Stephanie Cloud at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a way to deliver your items.
Once again, the ILYA team is so grateful for your support of this important project.
