A new initiative, Hand To Hand, has been created by Tom and Sue Hodges in support of foster youth of Delaware. Tom, a retired biochemist and Sue, a retired play therapist and First U member, while having divergent careers, share a passion for lifting up the underserved. First Unitarian Church of Wilmington’s volunteer organization ILYA, Independent Living for Young Adults, is the focus of their project.
Tom has been turning beautiful bowls for many years in his fantasy wood shop. Friends, families and charitable organizations have been gifted many of his creations. At this point they are donating his work to ILYA which in turns sells it to the general public. Proceeds are directly donated to ILYA in support of the many services they provide focused on foster youth in Delaware. Prices range from $10.00 to $150.00. Cash and checks are accepted for donations and purchases. Checks can be made out to the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington with Hand To Hand written in the memo line.
Hand to Hand is growing rapidly! Community partners offering services and promotional items are jumping on board to be a part of the goodwill being spread by the Hand To Hand /ILYA connection!
Hand To Hand will be on display monthly in the church hall beginning on August 21. Please consider joining our efforts in supporting foster youth aging out of the system and journeying on towards independence. Your donation or purchase creates a win-win for all involved.
