Transformational Racial Healing Circles

Transformational Racial Healing Circles (TRHC) are an opportunity to gather and share our personal stories and truths in a brave space. The goal is to see the shared humanity that lives in all of us. Though we do not always share lived experiences, we share common experiences, emotions, and innate qualities. There is a deep equality that resides in our human capacities for reason, autonomy, moral agency, and love. The authors of The Little Book of Racial Healing have a vision of a more connected, just, and truthful community that would acknowledge and seek to heal the unresolved and persistent racial wounds of the past that continue to affect and harm all of us today and we at YWCA Delaware share that vision. “The damage done to people and communities of color are obvious. It is also important to recognize the wounds of separation, division, guilt, and shame that white people carry.” (DeWolf & Geddes 3) This book is a guide for our TRHC program. The program runs for 6 consecutive weeks of online or in-person group meetings with a trained facilitator designed to promote ways for all of us to heal from past wounds, establish mutually respectful connections across racial and ethnic lines that honor and value each person’s humanity, and build trusting diverse community ties that better represent our common humanity. We hope you will join us on this journey.
