What a treat! Hot chocolate with all the trimmings warmed taste buds and hearts after last week’s service. The creative and very popular Hot Chocolate Bar was the project of First U’s Questers who planned it, served it, and donated the profits to ILYA. These fourth through seventh graders had been making hot chocolate in their classroom on cold Sundays this year. In November they learned a lot about ILYA’s work with kids ‘aging out’ of foster care when they helped promote ILYA’s Christmas Gift Drive with a performance at Time for All Ages. “What a combo!” agreed the Questers, “hot chocolate and ILYA!” They put them together with a Hot Chocolate Bar / ILYA fundraiser. As a group they came up with cocoa toppings including Oreos, candy canes, graham crackers, mini chocolate chips and more, and even offered a choice of vegan hot chocolate and creative trimmings. Eight Questers participated in this fun fundraiser, raising $250.00 for ILYA. Thanks to Francesca Cericola, Bryn Doms, Rhys Doms, Nora Hammonds, Stella Latkowski, Umoja Nuru, Marlowe Oswald, and Finn Rowan from ILYA and from the First U members who left the Parish Hall Sunday with special smiles.
