ANNA Crusis Feminist choir presents “Singing Dolly and Holly”, featuring the music of Dolly Parton and Holly Near, set to take place at First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St., on April 22, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.
This unique concert event will showcase the diverse talents and contributions of two iconic musicians. Dolly Parton, a beloved country music legend, has inspired generations of fans and fellow musicians alike. Known for her distinctive voice, heartfelt lyrics, and infectious energy, she has written and recorded countless hit songs over the years, including “Jolene,” “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” and “9 to 5.”
Holly Near is a renowned folk singer and political activist who has been writing and performing music for over four decades. Her music addresses a wide range of social justice issues, including LGBT rights, women’s rights, and anti-war activism. Some of her best-known songs include “Singing for Our Lives,” “I Am Willing,” and “Mountain Song.”
