On April 2, 2022, June Peterson and Bob Ulrich came knocking on our door, eager to make the first purchase from our new Hand To Hand project. And so began the story of woodcraft meeting helping hands and big hearts in support of Delaware foster youth. The story has been growing ever since.
It is with grateful hearts that Sue and Tom Hodges report the huge success of our Hand To Hand project, designed to support ILYA (Independent Living For Young Adults) programs. We passed the $3,000 mark our first year! We cannot thank you enough for your interest and generous, giving spirit in lifting up foster youth as they work their way towards independence.
From Tom’s passion for wood turning to those who purchase his bowls, give them as gifts or share their history, the project is spreading awareness of aging-out foster youth and the challenges they face. Funds received go directly into ILYA’s special projects. With the generous donation from Chadds Ford Tree Service, Tom is happily back in the woodshop again this spring. Look for a new selection of Hand To Hand creations on display in Parish Hall monthly. Please come over to check us out, have a chat, make a suggestion – or buy a bowl in support of ILYA!
