First UU Music Quiz; Everyone who takes it will be a winner!

What is so much fun about making music at First UU?

Smiles seem to be contagious on the faces of music-makers at First UU. Our children from toddlers to teens rush to the front of the sanctuary once a month to share their love of singing with enthusiastic leadership from Sarah Barlow. The adult choir enjoys both Sunday performances from the choral risers and the challenges and accomplishments of their Thursday night rehearsals. Sharing their talent, our guest and member-instrumentalists inspire us often with their sounds. New singers and players are always welcome to share in the fun.

What upcoming music events should be on our calendars?

No one wants to miss Big Music Sunday on May 7 when guest performers will join the First UU adult choir to sing the dynamic and inspirational music of Alice Parker. Ms. Parker’s arrangements with Robert Shaw of folksongs, hymns and spirituals form an enduring repertoire for choruses all around the world. The Chamber Singers, with guest soloists, will perform “Songstream” written by Parker based on the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Flower Sunday on June 11 will feature music performed by our church members.

In September we can all look forward to an organ concert followed by a special gala choir event in October.

Plan on a holiday sing-a-long in December.
