Summer Fun – Volunteer Opportunities!

Seeking Host Family!

Our Congregational Accompaniment Project for Asylum Seekers (CAPAS) is gearing up for some summer fun with our family from Tanzania! This is your chance to get involved and get to know the family. Here are some ideas:

Free concerts at Bellevue on Thursday & Sunday evenings
The Russ Peterson Environmental Center
A State or local park
The pool
A picnic
A ball game

We are seeking a host family who will “walk in solidarity” with the family as they navigate their immigration journey. The journey of asylum seekers, entirely within the parameters of the law, can be fraught with uncertainty and confusion. The host family supplies a safe, welcoming environment where the family can progress in their journey of learning a new culture and working towards independence. Please be in touch if you have any interest, questions, or any experience with hosting.

Thanks to our current volunteers who are providing English tutoring, driving to various events and appointments, and visits to a community garden. Thanks also to those who have donated money. We couldn’t be doing all this without your support.
