CALL FOR ADULT HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

A Fun Halloween Assignment for one and all!

Do you have a Halloween costume your teens have outgrown? Or one you yourself wore a few years ago but just can’t imagine using again? Maybe even some costume jewelry or fancy hats and scarves that have been tucked in a forgotten corner of your drawer? In fact, how about wigs? masks? boas? Here’s a good chance to bring them back to life for another Halloween season!

Gently used costumes and accessories are needed for an upcoming Halloween party with a carnival/cabaret theme for youth and young adults (ages 14-23) who are or have been in foster care. Their youth advisory/advocacy organization called HOPE (Helping Our Peers Evolve), under the auspices of Delaware’s Division of Family Services, holds monthly statewide meetings and the party is scheduled for next month’s meeting on October 18th.

While the attendees are encouraged to come in costume, the organizers believe that at least some of the youth, not always by choice, will appear “costume-less.” ILYA has been asked to fill that void by collecting gently used costumes and accessories (masks, boas, hats, ties, vests, costume jewelry, Mardi Gras or other beads, hair decorations, dress gloves, etc.). While the theme of the party is Carnival/Cabaret, the organizers are accepting any gently used costumes/accessories with the hope that the youth will have an event where “they can take a breather from everyday life…eat, see friends, and dance.” ILYA is honored to be asked to help.

THIS IS A CHANCE TO CLEAN OUT THOSE CLOSETS AND DRAWERS!

BRING YOUR DONATIONS TO THE ILYA TABLE IN THE PARISH HALL AFTER SUNDAY SERVICE ON OCTOBER 1ST AND 8TH.
