End of Winter 2024 Update

Our Congregational Accompaniment Project for Asylum Seekers (CAPAS) continues to walk in solidarity with the family from Tanzania. Life has become more stable and routine with school, English as a Second Language classes, weekly grocery shopping, etc. Mom grows vegetables in her yard, despite the cold, with plastic greenhouses, and the son enjoys ice skating with his friends on Friday nights.

Thanks to all our volunteers who provide a home, English tutoring, rides to appointments, and visits to community events. We appreciate your time! Thanks also to those who have donated money. We appreciate your treasure! The family’s success in America is due to your support.

Please stay after church on Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 noon. Grab some coffee and a snack and head back to the Sanctuary. CAPAS volunteers will give an update on what’s happening with the family and what needs the First U CAPAS project has now.

CAPAS is sponsored by the Human Rights Task Force (HRTF) and a project of the national Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. Questions or comments, email Becky Laster at
