ILYA Share the Plate – Sunday April 7

ILYA Share the Plate

Sunday April 7

The Share-the-Plate collection for ILYA’s year-round projects will be taken that morning. ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) is a volunteer social action program whereby church members and friends coordinate with DFS and its five contract non-profit social agencies to support young adults who have been in foster care and now are on their own with little or no family support.

Following worship please join us in the sanctuary for a presentation by

Trenee Parker, the Director of Family Services (DFS), Delaware’s child protective agency, to discuss issues facing young adults as they age out of foster care and transition to adulthood. Registration Required- Zoom option and childcare options available. Please click here to register.

Director Parker earned her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Salisbury University and has spent her entire career as a DFS employee, beginning as an intern in 1995. She worked in an Investigation unit, in Treatment and in Adoption before moving into administration. In 2015, she was appointed to be Deputy Director of DFS, with one focus on infants with prenatal substance exposure. She was appointed Director of DFS in January, 2018.

She has called ILYA: “a backbone of support that youth can continue to rely on for help, advocacy and support.”
