April UUDAN Meeting: Housing Reform

Homelessness in Delaware continues to increase due to a massive shortage of affordable housing. Statistics have been on the rise due to inflation spiking, COVID aid running out and rents hitting record highs. Senator Huxtable introduced 7 pieces of legislation which address a variety of housing issues. Tyler and Lisa, of Family Promise, will discuss the current legislation in the Senate. They will also share how Family Promise works to help families who are homeless on their journey to secure housing.

At our meetings, speakers talk and answer questions for about 30 minutes, then we discuss UUDAN advocacy and business. UUDAN brings the five Delaware UU congregations together. UUDAN’s mission is to inform, recruit, and mobilize UU advocates to work, in partnership with other advocacy organizations, for the many social justice issues in the state of Delaware.
