Creativity Matters Pop-Up Art Show
Sunday, October 25th, Coffee Hour
You are encouraged and welcome to try out some creative art when reflecting on this month’s Soul Matters theme of Courage. Please bring it to church on Oct 25th, and we’ll display it during coffee hour so we an enjoy everyone’s creative projects! We would love to see what you create!
If you need some help thinking of what to do, here are some ideas:
- What if you actually practiced making mistakes? Courageously practice “scribble art” as a way to develop curiosity rather than judgment and focus on process rather than product. Scribble with any medium, and then see what you find in your scribbles, and highlight them in another medium. Here’s a video on the practice of making mistakes.
- Create a self-portrait with yourself as a brave superhero. Begin by imagining yourself as a superhero who can help you unlock parts of yourself. Perhaps you would like to more fully embody courage, confidence, or another quality you associate with being courageous and daring. As you envision your self-portrait, consider these questions: What superpowers do you have? Do you have a special pose? What costume do you wear? Do you have a symbol?
- Create a Role Model Collage. Focus on the role models in your life whom you turn to for courage when confronting a difficult challenge, taking a risk, or making a tough decision. Someone whose life or character represents some quality you want to strive for in ourselves. Create a collage with photos, newspaper clippings, or objects that symbolize the courage they inspire in you.
