We have an art gallery on our second floor, just outside Brunner Chapel. Often, during the year, church members and friends will install art shows for several weeks in the gallery. Check out Enews for updated links.

If you are interested in participating in a gallery show, please email Nancy Pinson at art@firstuuwilm.org

First Unitarian Church celebrates art as an important part of a person’s expression of their thoughts, feelings, and spirituality; works of art are displayed in locations throughout the building. On the fourth Sunday of each month, members and friends are invited to bring a piece of art they created that reflects the Soul Matters theme of that month. Prompts and ideas are provided in the weekly e-news for each month’s theme. If the artists wish, they can also have a card stating how the work of art reflects the theme for them. The art is displayed in the Parish Hall during the service and coffee hour for others to enjoy, and then the artists take the art home. Small easels are provided for ease of viewing some of the art; but all kinds of art are encouraged, such as poetry, beading, ceramic, painting, etc. Check out the e-news for ideas and inspiration, and then remember to bring your art on the fourth Sunday of the month! We can’t wait to see your creativity!

We welcome artists of all ages and media to engage with us in this creative way of exploring our monthly Soul Matters themes. Submit works as many months as inspire you. Works might be something you’ve already completed or might be something new, inspired by the theme. If writing is more your creative outlet and you would like to submit a short piece or poetry suitable for framing based on the monthly theme, those are also welcome. We have a few frames available (11×14, matted to 8×10). If you have questions, send them to art@firstuuwilm.org or speak with Nancy Pinson on Sundays. To learn more about our committee, please read our charter.
