Some have said that despite all of the differences between the world religions, they find similarities among their mystical traditions. The mystical tradition of Islam is called Sufism, and one of the foremost historical poets of Sufism was Hafiz. Hafiz’s mystical poetry is still highly influential in many parts of the Muslim world, and has been making significant inroads in American liberal religion.
