The poem “Cross That Line” by Naomi Shihab Nye, the story of Paul Robeson singing from the United States across the border into Canada, and a personal story from a long ago visit to the King Center in Atlanta come together for two purposes: to serve as a reminder of a promissory note defaulted on and to honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
