Congregations can be catalysts for healing, or exacerbate isolation. The response of the community plays a critical role in determining whether Veterans become morally injured.
The Reverend Chris J. Antal, D.Min., is staff chaplain at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. He served as a congregational minister for a decade, deployed to Afghanistan as an Army chaplain, and since 2018 has been working full-time for VA. Together with colleagues he has published about moral injury care in several peer-reviewed journals. Rev. Antal is ordained in and endorsed by the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations.
